Relines

Relines are the intermediary treatment between new dentures.  The denture teeth are usually still reasonably sharp while the fit of the denture has changed and become loose, possibly causing sore spots.  The old pink acrylic is ground away and new acrylic is used to replace it based on new impressions.  It is designed to “re-fit” the denture to the changing gums to produce a tighter fit.  Dentures are recommended to be relined every 2-3 years to adjust to your bodies changes.

Appointments

  1. 30 min appt.  A tissue conditioner if required, is placed in the denture.  The purpose is to heal the gums from any sore spots, swelling or irritation in preparation for new impressions.  You wear the dentures as normal for 1-4 days.
  2. 30 min appt in the am. Impressions are taken for the new acrylic base.  Dentures are left at the clinic for 4-6 hours.
  3. 30 min appt in the pm. Dentures are picked up at the end of the same day. Any adjustments are made at this time.  Other adjustments may be required as needed over the following few weeks.

Repairs

We treat repairs as emergencies and will get you in as soon as possible.  Most repairs can be completed while you wait.  If for some reason the repair is more extensive, we would let you know the time frame required.  Any non-obvious breaks that start happening are usually a sign of a poor fit or uneven pressure on the denture.  If not addressed, these can lead to more problems down the road, more repairs and possibly even affect your adjustment to a new denture.
